One day, Mack and Misha are doing their maths homework and finding it a bit difficult. They decide they are fed up with numbers. So they tell their Mum and Dad that they’re not going to use numbers anymore – and that Mum and Dad aren’t allowed to use any numbers either.

To their surprise, Mum and Dad agree and help them make their house into a Number Free Zone. At first, Mack and Misha are really happy and are looking forward to having a great day with no numbers around to confuse them. But trying to live without numbers turns out to be a lot harder than they expected…

Can Dad build a tree house without his measuring tape? How will they know when it’s bedtime? And will they ever get the right amount of pocket money?

Written by the mother of an 8 year old who often wishes that numbers would just go away, “The Day the Numbers Stopped” is a story designed to appeal to boys and girls age 6-8.

The book has 10 short chapters, each with a colour illustration (see below for a full Picture Preview). It is designed to be read alone by 7-8 year olds of average reading ability. Younger children or less confident readers may benefit from an adult reader to read along with them.
